"All those band had a strong syncopated rhythms at that festival....after a while, it seemed like they were all playing the same tune, but that is what people think African music is about..dance!! Its so much deeper than just dance and fun"
Those are the observations being casually exchanged in the back of our tour bus during the first part of her UK tour.
Simphiwe Dana and her band, the Live Ensemble are all seasoned musicians and all of them possess that rare quality....an inquisitive mind.
South African do not take anything for granted when they are outside of the relative comfort of their own borders...with a new sense of freedom that began only 15years ago, the thirst for different experiences with other cultures and knowledge of the world outside SA, the way other African lives in their land or how the Diaspora interact in the western world are recurrent subject of conversations, this creates lively, numerous, stimulating and inspiring debates....
And what about the music....
I think this is for you to discover...words cannot make justice to experiencing Simphiwe Dana live.
