JAQEE is a phenomenon, a smiling-dancing and singing musical rainbow so infectious she has already conquered Sweden, Germany, France and other European part with 3 albums spanning Jazz, Soul, Folk, Reggae, RnB and Hip Hop.
Like Ayo and Nneka or Patrice before her, it is yet again a German label who is behind the success of another princess of this wave of African artists who in the last 2 years have been crashing the European and American charts, touring internationally at most major festivals events worth appearing on the European live circuit, be it Soul, Reggea, Folk, World/African or Hip Hop.
The UK is just a little bit behind on this one...probably to caught up with X-Factor and N-Dubz to even care.
There is a long list of relevant talents that we do not see enough here in the UK despite having a receptive and knowledgeable audience ready to jump at the chance to see them perform if given an opportunity.
The odd "Black Divide"...it is interesting to notice how the Afropean range of musical taste is very similar but somehow different than the Afro-Carribean musical experience...it could be subject to a long debate but I regress....because here we have an artist contributing in narrowing the cultural gap in the most efficient and classy way. Resist if you dare!
