AFROGROOV 01 11 2012 PART 1 feat Wesley Ruzibiza by Radio10_rw
Poetry of movement, expression of the body, all Africans have the rhythm in their blood, every black person can dance! So goes the stereotype.
Today, we welcome Wesley Ruzibiza, a serial cultural entrepreneur, choreographer, dancer and director of the Amizero Kompagnie, an award-winning Rwandan contemporary dance troop.
With relentless passion, Wesley has made it his personal mission to promote the discipline of contemporary dance inside and outside his country.
How much does Africa value culture? Can we sustain spaces and structures for modern artistic expression? Can we use culture as a tool for development? We discuss this on the show as Wesley tells us about his week-long festival, The East African Night of Tolerance, where over 25 international artists will travel to Rwanda to share, discuss, exchange and perform in venues across Kigali.
